JY1000-ST is a DC insulation monitoring device based on MODBUS protocol, including DC to ground insulation impedance monitoring, DC voltage monitoring, DC voltage reverse connection alarm and other safety monitoring functions. It can be used for electric vehicle DC charging system, photovoltaic systems, energy storage systems, DC grids and other DC systems below 1000V.
This product has the function of starting and stopping insulation monitoring. After insulation monitoring is started, the insulation resistance of positive and negative poles to the ground can be monitored in real-time. The monitoring result is not affected by DC voltage fluctuation, and is not affected by the symmetry of insulation resistance of positive and negative poles.

FAQ
Q1: Can we use an earth leakage relay instead of an insulation monitoring device? Do they provide the same protection?
A: No. An earth leakage relay is used in grounded neutral systems. It detects leakage current exceeding a preset current value (usually 5A) and issues a trip signal. An insulation monitoring device, on the other hand, is used in ungrounded neutral systems to monitor the system's insulation resistance, measured in ohms (Ω). An IMD issues an alarm when the insulation resistance falls below a set value. While tripping is generally not necessary, it does serve as a reminder that the primary fault must be addressed as soon as possible to prevent a dangerous secondary fault. The two devices are designed for completely different system types and have completely different protection mechanisms.

Q2: What is the insulation resistance range that Blue Jay IMD can measure?
A: The Blue Jay Insulation Monitoring Device (IMD) can measure insulation resistance in the range of 0 to 50 MΩ, allowing for effective monitoring of both low- and high-resistance insulation conditions in DC systems.
