Product Description

     In electronics, a dc current shunt is a device that creates a low-resistance path for electric current, to allow it to pass around another point in the circuit. The shunt is wired in series with a heavy load, such as a DC motor, battery charger, heater, plating bath or smelter pot line. A DC voltmeter is connected to the shunt in a 4-wire (Kelvin) configuration. The preferred location for the low current shunt resistor is on the grounded side of the load. This minimizes the voltage present at the shunt and meter connections.
 

    A range of Blue-Jay dc ammeter shunt is available to measure DC currents and provide a proportional 50~100mV DC output to safely drive a moving coil instrument, overload protection or other control device. The Blue-Jay shunts are accurate to class 0.5 and are suitable for all DC current monitoring applications. The manganin shunts have brass ends and are available to measure currents from 0.1A up to 10000A. Furthermore, various sizes, configurations, and mounting styles are available.
